The Sand Sweeper 2000: Turning a Lightbox into a Sanding Station
"Prepare yourself for the most groundbreaking innovation in sanding space – introducing the Sand Sweeper 2000! Say goodbye to dust everywhere and hello to a magical new way of keeping your sanding contained. Because why settle for ordinary when you can sweep like a wizard!"
If this were something for sale, that’s exactly how it would be advertised! But in all seriousness – a long time ago, I bought a lightbox, thinking I'd use it to take perfectly lit photos of various items. However, it quickly became clear that I didn’t use it at all. I even planned to sell it, but somehow never got around to it... until one day, I stumbled upon an idea (totally by accident, as usual) to repurpose it as a portable sanding station!
So, here’s how I did it. I covered the open part with cellophane – the kind used to wrap bouquets – and attached it with some office clips. The cellophane can easily be removed and replaced, allowing convenient access to the inside. Through this “flap,” I can insert all my tools and items for sanding. I also made small slits on the sides for my hands – the whole thing now looks a bit like a mini incubator or isolation chamber.
If you’re short on space, and household members complain that your hobby is a hassle (luckily, that’s not my issue, but I can imagine), this solution might be perfect for you! You could create something similar with a large cardboard box, but the lightbox has its perks – it’s flexible, lightweight, and easy to move around.
So, if you’ve ever dreamed of a magical way to tame the chaos of sanding, Sand Sweeper 2000 is here for you! Sometimes, the thing we need most is already within reach – all it takes is a bit of creativity and... some cellophane!
