This season, I decided to try something different: a handmade decorative garland that's not only versatile but also doesn’t take up all the space like a pile of unwrapped gifts "waiting for their turn."
How to Use a Christmas Garland?
A Christmas garland is a decoration that works almost anywhere. You can hang it on a wall to create a cozy, festive corner or drape it over a stair railing where subtle lights add a warm glow. It’s lightweight and flexible enough to fit into various arrangements. Personally, I love the delicate effect it brings, adding a touch of magic to everyday spaces like a hallway or an area above a window.
Turn Your Garland Into a Decorative Wreath
If you’re in the mood for something bolder, this garland can easily be transformed into a decorative wreath. Just add a sturdy wire as a base, and the finished wreath will be a perfect fit for your front door or as a wall decoration. Moreover, such a wreath has an exceptionally light and unique design – it’s both elegant and refreshingly different from standard holiday ornaments.

What you will need:
Paper maple seeds
Jewelry wire
Beads
Wire mesh ribbon
Scissors
In the first step, we create the leaves using the wire mesh ribbon. Start by threading the jewelry wire through the ribbon and securing one end of the ribbon by wrapping the wire around it. Next, cut the ribbon to the desired length and secure the other end in the same way. The final step is to gently spread out the ribbon and shape it into the form of a leaf.
In the second step, we create decorative branches using wires and gold beads. Start by cutting a long piece of jewelry wire, then thread a bead onto it. Twist the wire to secure the bead in place, creating long segments ending with beads. Repeat this process to form delicate branches with multiple bead-tipped extensions.
To create a long garland, you’ll need a considerable number of maple seeds, leaves, and branches. These elements will be combined to achieve the desired length and fullness, giving the garland its decorative and cohesive look.
The final step is to assemble all the elements. Start by twisting the wires together, alternating each element—maple seeds, leaves, and branches—to create a cohesive garland or wreath. Continue this process until all pieces are securely intertwined, forming a balanced and decorative design.
